The Almaden Business Association

is off and running with our first mixer of 2012!
 

Join us for the first ABA event of the New Year. This will be a combined networking mixer and a feature presentation from our Santa Clara County District #1 Supervisor Mike Wasserman.

Mr. Wasserman will speak about his accomplishments since taking office in December 2010 and plans for the future. You will also be introduced to the new ABA Board Members for 2012 and hear about the other ABA activities coming up this year.

Help us celebrate the Holidays and the end of another great year. The ABA Holiday Party is one of our best and most popular events.

Time: 6:30pm. No host cocktails with appetizers provided.
Dinner at 7:15pm. 3 courses including salad, entrée and dessert. Coffee and tea included.

Entrée selections:
~ Vegetarian Veggies Wellington – Sauté of Tofu, onion, mushroom, jicama, baby spinach, wrapped in puff pastry & baked. Served with vegetable and pesto beurre blanc.

~ Stuffed Chicken Breast & Marsala au Jus – Stuffed with sun dried tomatoes, spinach, Swiss cheese and onions. Served with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables.

~ Herbal Crusted Salmon – Filet of wild salmon with herbal crust, seared and baked. Served with vegetable, golden potatoes and pesto beurre blanc sauce.

Almaden Business Association Special Event to Feature
New CEO of SJSV Chamber of Commerce
 

Matthew Mahood, recently appointed CEO of the San Jose/Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce, will be the featured speaker at our next Almaden Business Association event. Mr. Mahood will be discussing the future direction of the Chamber as well as issues of specific interest to businesses in the Almaden and Blossom Valley areas.

This event will include time for attendees to expand your valuable list of contacts in the local area. Refreshments will be served.

Please join us for a profitable evening of informal business networking and the chance to speak with Matt Mahood.

This event will be held on Tuesday, October 25th, 2011 from 5:30pm - 7:30pm. We’ll be meeting at the offices of Case Design & Remodeling, 6155 Almaden Expressway in San Jose. The office building is accessed from the southbound lanes of the expressway near the intersection of Redmond Avenue and Almaden Expressway. ABA Networking Event featuring Mayor Chuck Reed

The Almaden Business Association (ABA) will be featuring San Jose Mayor Chuck Reed as guest speaker at its May monthly networking mixer. This event will take place in the beautiful Pavilion Event Center at the Golf Club at Boulder Ridge in San Jose on Thursday, May 12 starting at 5:30 p.m. The Club is located at 1000 Old Quarry Road, San Jose, CA 95123, and offers panoramic views of the entire Silicon Valley and the Santa Cruz Mountain Range. “We are honored to have the Mayor speak at our next ABA mixer,” said ABA Board Member, Carole Edman. “We appreciate his commitment to addressing the issues near and dear to our very active business community in Almaden Valley.” The event is open to ABA Members and Guests. Members may attend for $10, guests for $15, with early registration by May 5; $15 members and $20 guests for advance registration May 6-11, $20 at the door. Light appetizers and soft drinks will be served along with a no-host bar. Special door prizes will also be offered through a raffle.

Retaining and Attracting More Businesses to San Jose
In his talk, the Mayor will cover a number of concerns important to the business community in San Jose and the Almaden Valley area. Creating a more business-friendly environment is one general issue that affects every company, large and small. Job growth and the role local government can play to help is another key issue to be discussed. In addition, pending changes to the Redevelopment Agency and the impact of potential city service cutbacks will be on the list of topics to be included.

In addition to current ABA members, we welcome and encourage businesses in the local area to join us as guests at this special event.

Supporting Local Community Service Organizations
A portion of the event proceeds will go to support the work provided through the Almaden Valley Counseling Service. This fine non-profit organization has been delivering affordable mental health services to all ages for over 30 years, with an emphasis on serving youth in the community. ABA 2.0: The State of Almaden Valley Business

Join us for the first big networking event of 2011. "ABA 2.0" is a new and improved way for Almaden Business Association members to connect with other business owners and identify customers more effectively. District 10 Councilmember Nancy Pyle and Pat Sausedo from the SJSV Chamber of Commerce will address what's happening in City Government that affects Almaden business owners. Possible topics include business taxes, reductions to city services, occupancy rates, navigating the planning commission, and more. Come prepared to ask questions! After the speakers, attendees will engage in "purpose-driven networking," designed to build quality connections. Current members, please plan to bring at least one guest. The wider our membership, the broader our networking opportunities. A raffle will be held for guests and their sponsors.
